Round Robin Day 3

The ladies fought for a spot in the top 16 in the final day of round robin play.

Angel Yin versus Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (Yin 1-up)

Roussin-Bouchard opened with a birdie to go 1-up. Yin tied the match at the 4th before Roussin-Bouchard won the 7th and 8th to go 2-up. Yin won five of the next seven holes to go 1-up through 15. A par by Roussin-Bouchard on the 16th tied the match, which was won by Yin with a par on the 18th. Yin finished group play 1-2 and Roussin-Bouchard finished 0-2-1.

AtthayaThitikul versus Alison Lee (Thitikul 4-and-3)

Both players won a single hole through the first eight before Thitikul won three of the next four holes with birdies to go 3-up. After the next two holes were halved, Thitikul ended the match with a par in the 15th. Thitkul ended group play 1-2 and Lee finished at 0-2-1.

Danielle Kang versus PajareeAnannarukarn (Tied)

Anannarukarn birdied three of the first four holes to take a 3-up lead. Kang closed the front nine with two birdies and a par, winning all three holes to even the match. Anannarukarn led 1-up heading to the home hole, but Kang won with a par to tie the match. Kang finished group play 1-2 and Anannarukarn finished 0-2-1.

Ayaka Furue versus Carlota Ciganda (Furue 2-and-1)

Furue won the 3rd with a birdie and Ciganda evened the match at the 4th with a birdie. Furue won the next two, but once again Ciganda had an answer, evening the match at the turn. Furue won three of the next five holes to go 3-up and ended the match when both players parred the 17th. Furue ended group play at 2-0-1 and Ciganda went 2-1.

Nanna Koerstz Madsen versus Yealimi Noh (Madsen 2-up)

Madsen went 1-up after an eagle on the 4th, but Noh won the 6th and 7th before Madsen ended the front nine winning the last two to go 1-up. She extended the lead to 2-up after a birdie on the 11th. Noth fought back with birdies on the 12th and 13th to even the match. Madsen won the 14th and 18th to secure the match and finish group play at 2-1. Noh fell to 0-3.

Elizabeth Szokol versus Paula Reto (Reto 4-and-2)

Reto played the first seven holes at three-under par and took a 4-up lead. Szokol responded with a three-under stretch over the next five and pulled to 1-down. Reto rebounded with three wins over the next four holes to close the match. She finished group play at 3-0 and Szokol went 1-2.

Ally Ewing versus So Yeon Ryu (Ewing 1-up)

Both players won one hole over the front nine, entering the turn at even. Ewing took a 1-up lead with a par on the 11th. Ryu ran off three consecutive wins and appeared to be in control at 2-up through 14. Ewing stormed back by winning the last three holes, two of them with birdies. She entered group play at 2-1 and Ryu fell to 0-3.

Jasmine Suwannapura versus Jodi Ewart Shadoff (Shadoff 3-and-2)

Shadoff started quickly, going 2-up after three and won four holes on the front nine to take a 3-up lead at the turn. In a match filled with runs, Suwannapura won three of the next four to go 1-up. However, a four-over par stretch on the next three led to three Shadoff wins and the match. Shadoff ended group play 3-0 and Suwannapura dropped to 1-2.

Amy Olson versus Tiffany Chan (Chan 2-up)

Olson bogeyed the first three holes, leading for a 3-up lead for Chan. Olson bounced back with wins on the 7th and 8th and made the turn 1-down. Chan increased her lead to 2-up on the 11th and Olson answered by winning the 13th, 15th, and 16th to even the match. Olson struggled to double bogey on each of the last two holes, losing the match. She finished group play 1-1-1- and Chan improved to 3-0.

Georgia Hall versus Mina Harigae (Hall 4-and-3)

Hall shot even on the front nine, winning three holes in the process and took a 1-up lead at the turn. She took control from there, winning three of the next six holes to secure the win. Hall ended group play at 2-1 and Harigae dropped to 0-2-1.

Perrine Delacour versus Annie Park (Park 5-and-3)

Delacour won two of the first four holes to go 1-up but didn’t win another hole the rest of the match. Park recorded three birdies, winning six holes from the 5th through the 15th. She improved to 2-0-1 in group play and Delacour dropped to 1-2.

Hannah Green versus Sophia Popov (Tied)

Green and Popov battled to even through the first five before Green won the next three to finish the front nine 3-up. Popov won the 12th and 15th with birdies, as well as the 16th and 17th to go 1-up. Green salvaged a half with a birdie on 18. Green ended group play 1-1-1 and Popov ended 0-2-1.

Jenny Shin versus Haeji Kang (Tied)

Neither player lead by more than 1-up throughout the match. Both players won five holes, with three birdies each. In addition, both players shot two-under par for the round. The tie moved Shin to 2-0-1 in group play, while Kang finished 1-1-1.

Charley Hull versus Ariya Jutanugarn (Tied)

Hull won the opening hole with a par, but Jutanugarn won four of the next seven holes before Hull won the 9th to enter the turn 2-down. Wins on the 10th and 14th by Hull evened the match. Jutanugarn went 1-up with a birdie on the 15th. Hull evened the match with a birdie on the 17th . Both players bogeyed the 18th and both finished group play 1-1-1.

Esther Henseleit versus Lilia Vu (Vu 4-and-3)

Henseleit won the first but Vu tied the match on the 4th and took over from there. She won four of the next six holes to go 4-up through 10. Henseleit managed wins on 11 and 13 with birdies, both to get back to 3-down. Pars on 14 and 15 by Vu secured the match and a perfect 3-0 record. Henseleit fell to 0-3.

Hyo Joo Kim versus Matilda Castren (Kim 5-and-4)

Castren won the first hole and kept the lead through the 4th. Kim won the 5th and 8th with birdies and was 1-up at the turn. A five-over par stretch from Castren on the 11th through the 14th opened the door for Kim to win each hole, ending the match. Kim improved to 2-1 and Castren fell to 0-1-2.

Sarah Schmelzel versus Allisen Corpuz (Corpuz 6-and-5)

Corpuz won the first hole with a par and never trailed in the match. Schmelzel won the 4th and 6th, but went four over par from holes 9 through 13. Corpuz won each of those holes to end the match and finish group play at 2-0-1. Schmelzel dropped to 0-2-1.

Jeongeun Lee6 versus Moriya Jutanugarn (Jutanugarn 7-and-5)

Lee6 won the 2nd hole to go 1-up, but failed to win another hole the rest of the match. Jutanugarn won four of the next five holes, all with birdies. Wins on the 9th, 10th, 12th, and 13th closed out the match. Jutanugarn improved to 2-0-1 and Lee6 fell to 0-2-1.

Ashleigh Buhai versus Maude-Aimee Leblanc (Buhai 1-up)

After winning the first, Buhai dropped the last two to go 1-down. Three birdies on holes 5 through 7 by Buhai led to three wins and a 2-up lead. Leblanc gained momentum, winning four of the next six holes to go 2-up through 14. A solid even par finish for Buhai earned her three wins coming in, securing the match. She improved to 2-0-1 and Leblanc fell to 0-2-1.

Gemma Dryburgh versus Gaby Lopez (Drybugh 2-and-1)

Dryburgh shot two-under par on the front and took a 3-up lead at the turn. Lopez won the 10th with a birdie, but Dryburgh increased the lead to 4-up with wins on the 12th and 13th. Lopez fought to 2-down with wins on 15 and 16 but couldn’t get any closer. Both players finished the group round at 2-1.

Chella Choi versus Cheyenne Knight (Tied)

Choi won the first three holes with pars and lead 3-up through nine. Knight won her first hole of the match with a birdie on the 12th to get to 2-down. As it turned out, Choi didn’t win another hole the rest of the match after the early lead. Knight secured a half point with a par on 18. Knight improved to 1-1-1 and Choi went to 0-2-1.

A Lim Kim versus Megan Khang (Tied)

Kim was one-under par through 10 holes, winning seven and took a 4-up lead. The tide turned with Khang winning four to the next seven holes in two-under par to even the match. Kang tied all three matches in group play and Kim went to 0-1-2.

Andrea Lee versus Stephanie Meadow (Lee 2-and-1)

A triple-bogey at the first for Lee led to an easy win for Meadow. Both players won two holes from the 2nd through the 9th. Lee tied the match with and eagle on the par 4 12th. She continued the momentum with wins on the 14th and 17th to secure the victory. Lee finished group play at 2-0-1 and Meadow dropped to 0-1-2.

Minjee Lee versus Caroline Masson (Masson 2-and-1)

Masson won the first hole with a par and never trailed in the match. Lee won the 2nd and 4th holes with birdie and eagle, but trailed 3-down at the turn after Masson won the 5th, 7th, and 9th with birdies. Lee got to 1-down with a birdie on 15 but Masson won with a par on 17. She ended group play 3-0 and Lee dropped to 1-2.

Brittany Altomare versus Youngin Chun (Chun 2-up)

Altomare recorded three birdies through four and took a 2-up lead. Chun won three of the next five holes to go 1-up. Altomare tied the match with a par on the 13th. Chun won the 17th with a birdie and 18th with a bogey to earn the win. Both players finished group play at 1-2.

Madelene Sagstrom versus Ryann O’Toole (Sagstrom 2-and-1)

O’Toole won the first two before Sagstrom birdied the next two to even the match. The players alternated wins on holes 6 through 9 to enter the turn even. Sagstrom and O’Toole each won a hole from 10 through 15, but Sagstrom won the 16th with a birdie and 17th with a part to win the match. She improved to 3-0 and O’Toole dropped to 1-2.

Wei-Ling Hsu versus Albane Valenzuela (Valenzuela 5-and-3)

Valenzuela won the first three holes before losing the 4th after a double bogey. She bounced back to win three more holes on the front to go 4-up at the turn. Hsu won the 10th and 11th holes with birdies, but Valenzuela closed out the match winning three of the next four holes. She finished group play 2-1 and Hsu fell to 0-3.

Jennifer Kupcho versus Stacy Lewis (Kupcho 5-and-3)

Kupcho won three of the first five holes with birdies and led 3-up through nine. She won the 10th and 12th with birdies before Lewis won the par 3 13th to get 3-down. Bogeys by Lewis on the 14th and 15th paved the way for Kupcho to win both holes, ending the match. Kupcho finished group play at 2-1 and Lewis dropped to 0-2-1.

Lauren Stephenson versus Emma Talley (Talley 5-and-3)

Talley won four of the first five holes to take a 3-up lead. Stephenson bounced back winning two of the next four holes with birdies to make the turn 2-down. Talley won four of the next six holes, including the last three, to win the match. Talley finished group play 2-0-1 and Stephenson dropped to 1-2.

Lizette Salas versus Hye-Jin Choi (Choi 2-and-1)

Salas struggled to a five-over par start over the first four holes, falling 4-down. She won the 4th and 9th while Choi won the 6th and 8th to maintain a 4-up lead. Salas won the 10th and 12th, but neither player won a hole the rest of the way. Choi improved to 3-0 and Salas dropped to 0-3.

Su Oh versus Aditi Ashok (Oh 1-up)

Neither player led by more than 2-up in this tight match. Both players won three holes on the front nine and Oh took a 2-up lead through 14 with wins on the 11th and 13th. Ashok got the match even after winning the 15th and 16th. Oh came on top with a par to Ashok’s bogey on the last. Oh improved to 2-1 and Ashok fell to 1-2.

Eun-Hee Ji versus Kelly Tan (Tied)

Ji’s only win for the first 16 holes was an eagle on the par 5 7th. Tan was 2-up through 16 after winning the 4th, 9th, and 16th. Ji recorded birdie on the 17th and par on the 18th to tie the match. Ji finished group play 2-0-1 and Tan finished 1-0-2.

Group 8 Playoff: Gemma Dryburgh defeated Gaby Lopez with a par on the first hole.

Group 9 Playoff: Moriya Jutanugarn defeated Ashleigh Buhai with a par on the first hole.
