Ally McDonald was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on October 25, 1992. An accomplished amateur golfer, McDonald won the North and South Women’s Amateur, and twice victorious at the Mississippi State Amateur. While attending college at Mississippi State University, McDonald won five individual titles.
While in college, McDonald was a two-time First Team All-American. In addition, she was a member 2013 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship and the Curtis Cup team in 2014. She finished second on a sponsor exemption at the Symetra Tour’s 2015 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout. After posting a tie for 22nd at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, McDonald earned LPGA membership for the 2016 season.
Spending the majority of the year on the Symetra Tour, McDonald had four second-place finishes and finished with over $110,000 in winnings. Qualifying for the Evian Championship, McDonald finished a respectable 30th in her first event on the LPGA Tour.
McDonald played on the LPGA Tour fulltime in 2017, and made 19 cuts in 24 tournaments, earning over $250,000. Her best finish was a tie for 13th at the Evian Championship and ranked in the top ten in eagles Madera tour. Although she missed eight cuts in 25 events in 2018, McDonald had three top-ten finishes, including a season best tied for 3rd at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Her $315,781 in earnings ranked 62nd on the LPGA Tour.
Making strides in her game in 2019, McDonald had three top ten finishes and 18 cuts made in 25 events. She tied for sixth at ANA Inspiration, which was by far her best finish in a major championship. Her $638,014 in winnings landed her at 34th on the earnings list for the season. McDonald was a member of the U.S. Solheim Cup team, and went 1-3-0, replacing the injured Stacy Lewis.

McDonald won the inaugural LPGA Drive On Championship on October 25, 2020 for her first LPGA Tour victory! Currently 62nd on the Rolex World Golf Rankings, McDonald has earned $1.65 million during her career. Quite the birthday for this seasoned, enigmatic player!
