6. Rangefinders
To help gauge your distance to the green, to carry a bunker or a water hazard, a rangefinder is the perfect aide. There are two types of rangefinders are on the market, GPS and laser. With the GPS rangefinder you load the course, turn on the rangefinder, select the hole and target. A great feature of the GPS rangefinder is that most automatically move to the next hole on the course. Note that many GPS rangefinders require a paid monthly subscription.
Laser rangefinders do not need the course to be mapped out. Simply aim the rangefinder at the object you wish to determine the distance from. Pull the trigger to send the beam to the target and the distance will be displayed. The results will only be as accurate as the person using the rangefinder.
Besides using the rangefinder on the golf course, they also come in handy for sightseeing while on vacation, such as whale watching or bird watching.
